Koen van de Wardt
Koen van de Wardt is a multi-instrumentalist, producer, and composer best known for his project Klangstof, which began quietly in 2015 and quickly found a global audience. Raised in a remote part of Norway, Koen spent his teenage years obsessing over the sounds of Radiohead and Aphex Twin, crafting songs alone that would eventually form the backbone of his debut album, Close Eyes to Exit.
That album took on a life of its own—leading to Klangstof becoming the first Dutch band to ever play Coachella and Bonnaroo, and opening doors to tours with Pixies, The Flaming Lips, and Miike Snow. In 2017, Koen’s work earned him an Edison Award, and de Volkskrant named him Music Talent of the Year.
These days, Koen works out of his synth-loaded studio in the south of Amsterdam, where he keeps exploring new sonic territory—often somewhere between left-field pop and ambient experimentation. He’s produced for artists like Maan and MEROL, and collaborated with a wide range of voices including S10, Zhu, Wende, and even The Flaming Lips themselves.
Beyond albums and touring, Koen also scores for film and television. His work includes music for the Golden Calf-winning Shielded and the official theme for Eurovision 2025.
