Michael Tyler is Songwriter of the Year!

During the SESAC Nashville Awards, CTM songwriter Michael Tyler was named Songwriter of the Year.

During the annual awards show at the Country Music Hall of Fame, the biggest country and Americana songs of the past year are honored. More than 500 songwriters, publishers and music industry professionals attend the event.

SESAC’s Senior Vice President Shannan Hatch announced that Michael Tyler has been named Songwriter of the Year. Tyler received three awards for his songs: “Cowboy Songs” (George Birge), “Holy Smokes” (Bailey Zimmerman) and “This Heart” (Corey Kent).

“Thank you to my beautiful wife standing around over here,” Tyler said on stage. “Thank you for the sacrifice you make every day. When I go write a song and I go on bus runs Wednesday through Sunday, then go on a writer’s retreat right after while you’re home with our two little boys and another one on the way, you’re my hero and I love you.”
