Tom Bakker
He was born in 1971 in Laren (NH) and grew up in a musical family. His father, Dick Bakker, had a music studio at home. At the age of 17, he participated for the first time as a composer and pianist in the National Song Contest (1989). He studied classical piano at the Sweelinck Conservatory under Ronald Brautigam, and composition/arranging of popular music at the Hilversum Conservatory under Jurre Haanstra.
Since 1998, he has been writing orchestral arrangements for various artists and orchestras, including the Metropole Orchestra. He also wrote the orchestral arrangements for the event Symphonica in Rosso in 2006 (Marco Borsato), 2008 (Lionel Richie), 2009 (Diana Ross), and 2015 (Marco Borsato). In 2013, he wrote the arrangement for the King’s Song.
Tom Bakker composed the music for the musicals “Op hoop van zegen” (2008) and “Het meisje met het rode haar” (2015).
