Shaka Shams

Shaka Shams grew up in Antwerp, spent a lot of time with his family in the UK, and with a strong sense of his South African roots, this inspired him to want to see the world from a young age. This sense of displacement led him to focus on music at the age of 11. Always in between, barely fitting in, he created his own island where he feels independent. At just 14, he amazed the audience during his very first open mic in the UK. At that moment, he decided that music was his home.

Shaka’s inspiration comes from many places: hip-hop, rap, soul, drum and bass, house music… Nas, AndrĂ© 3000, Kali Uchis, Erykah Badu, Channel Tres, Tyler the Creator, and even Yussef Kamaal are artists he has listened to a lot and who still inspire him today.

He already has several EPs and singles to his name and continues to perform alongside artists like Blu Samu, Coely, and Krankk.

He approaches music in his own way, taking what he calls “different-sized pieces of a music puzzle that fit perfectly.” With his highly recognizable nostalgic voice, you get that Shaka sound. This young talent is definitely one to watch!
