AIYA KAREEM is a raspy-voiced singer-songwriter whose music has been described as alternative pop r&b. AIYA KAREEM, born as Aïscha Traïdia comes from an Algerian father (named Karim) and a Dutch mother. She was born in Haarlem but has lived in London and NYC. For now she calls Amsterdam and LA her home.
AIYA KAREEM writes most of her own lyrics. Next to being an artist AIYA KAREEM also works as a songwriter. She has collaborated with producers such as; Needlz (Cardi B, Bruno Mars), Chris Deep Henderson (Jamie Foxx, Trey Songz), Troy Taylor (Trey Songz, Selah Sue, Tyrese),
Yellow Claw, Waju, Patrick Collier(Lenny Kravitz, SIA), Cimo Fränkel & Rik Annema (Armin van Buuren, Kris Kross), Mark van Bruggen (Dotan), Yoshi Breen, Max Oude Weernink (Dirtcaps). She finds inspiration in artists such as; SZA, Sia, H.E.R., Lauryn Hill, Michael Jackson, Bob Marly, Sting and the Police.
AIYA KAREEM comes from a super creative family. Her mother who is a costume designer and her father who is a film director and scenario writer. She gets her strong drive from her father. She grew up on stage with her uncle Hakim, who is an actor on Sesame street in the Netherlands. AIYA KAREEM and her uncle worked together on two theater plays and toured all over the Netherlands for 3 years. They also performed at the Kennedy center in Washington DC, Virginia and Curacao.
AIYA KAREEM is currently recording her EP which will be released in 2019.
